Wide Area Network or a WAN, as it is commonly known, is a communications network that spans over a large geographic area. It is usually used when a Local Area Network, LAN, is not able to provide the desirable functions, required of a larger network.
Existing companies are benefiting from the installation of wide area networks. The first and foremost feature, in favour of wide area networks, is their ease of installation. Anyone can establish a WAN, provided they have a personal computer and telephony technology.
