Of the many qualities of leadership, leaders are mostly renowned for great vision and for taking action to make their vision a reality.
Leaders have the ability to recruit and drive others to achieve certain goals. Leaders understand how to influence people and build strategies.
There are many leadership qualities, but the most important ones are:
* Listening to others’ opinions and views. Good leaders know how to do this in a positive way. They also learn how to base some of their goals and strategies off of the needs of their followers.
* Good communication: Leaders are comfortable expressing themselves clearly. They know when they should speak calmly and when to speak to motivate. They are easy to follow because their directions are easy to understand.
* Good leaders also help their followers or team members understand the problems that are in the way of desired outcomes. Good leaders know how to also help their team find appropriate solutions.
* The ability to delegate. This is one of the most important qualities of leadership, but one that is frequently overlooked. Leaders know the strengths and skills of their team, and they capitalize on these strengths by giving each team member tasks that contribute to the goals.
* Good team leaders also know how to appropriately show appreciation toward team members who do a great job. They know when to reward team members.
* Leaders also hold the quality of respect. They try to treat others how they would like to be treated. They follow the Golden Rule. They don’t just demand respect, but show that they deserve it.
* Good leaders set goals. They set clear objectives that are attainable and easy to understand.
* Leaders try to include creativity or innovation into the goals that are set.
* Good leaders don’t just come up with strategies, they do their best to keep everyone involved in the plan.
* One of the most important qualities of leadership also includes encouraging integrity, values, and ethics, in the workplace.
John Quincy Adams subscribed to the believe that a leader is someone who inspires people to dream more, do more, learn more, and become more. If you are able to motivate people to do that, you are probably already becoming a great leader.
