SALEM, NH July 2, 2004 — Foss Software, an industry leader in developing graphical user interface components for Windows applications, announced today the release of version 2.25 of Professional User Interface Suite (http://www.prof-uis.com), which is a popular MFC extension library for creating newest GUI in the Visual Studio 6.0/7.0/7.1 environment. Among the new features are a date picker control which looks like and has the same features as the mini-calendar (the Date Navigator) in Microsoft Outlook, a dialog for managing open child windows in MDI applications (the “Windows…” dialog), and a set of enhanced standard controls: check box, radio button, group box, and static text.

If reading this article about software doesn’t change your opinion of the subject, then probably nothing will.

The latter are 100% consistent with the Office 2003 theme, which uses a gradient background. The new check box and radio button are based on bitmaps, which allows the developers to easily provide these controls with any look and feel. The existing and new features are illustrated in the Prof-UIS Controls sample, which has been completely renewed. The compiled HTML help on Prof-UIS is now provided with indexes and better consistent with the MSDN MFC documentation style. The new article “Prof-UIS Grid Brief Overview” outlines the general architecture of the control and contains a list of FAQ about the grid.

Check out the full list of features, improvements, and bug fixes in the version history section of the product’s website at http://www.prof-uis.com/VersionHistory.aspx! Foss Software has been successfully developing and offering custom software solutions and GUI libraries since 2000.

software may be an old subject, but that doesn’t mean a good writer can’t find something new to write about it, and the author of this article is clearly a very good writer.

May 5, 2003 - 3D modeler, artist and Windows programmer Ron Paludan, owner of Railwaystation.com and several railroad-related software sites, has released a pair of add-ons for Microsoft Train Simulator software users. This separate pair of MSTS add-ons features: $10 - a Whitcomb CR6U-30 (circa 1930) locomotive engine with custom cab views, with lots of original boxcars, flat cars, gondolas and reefers, plus a place to play with the train and cars – a circa 1930s harbor freight route loaded with nearly 100 visuals, such as buildings, boats, vehicles, people and other 3D objects, even animated seagulls, neatly wrapped up with a great freelance route called the Sweethaven Railroad.

The writer of this article on software has obviously done his homework.

This downloadable add-on for MSTS is chock full of eye candy for rail fans, sound effects, hours of fun, and an Easter egg or two. Thoroughly tested before release, by a team of hardcore MSTS users. $5 - a Speeder MT-19 Fairmont, a maintenance car for your routes, comes complete with cab and sounds, and even has a realistically detailed engineer. Details from photographs of Speeder cars were wrapped onto 3D models, for extra attention to authenticity. Thoroughly tested. Both models are published by 3Dtrains.com, located at: http://www.3Dtrains.com In addition to the low-cost MSTS add-ons, there are dozens of free MSTS add-ons on the Railwaystation.com site, featuring such free goodies as rotary snowplows, a 57 Chevy, buildings such as train depots and stations, ghost town buildings, gas station, warehouses, skyscraper, toolshed, porta potty, and more.

Other free objects such as flat-dimensional people, vintage billboards and other nostalgic signage, and even a rich snowy weather effect, all enrich the realistic simulation for MS Train Sim users. In addition, free skins for popular locomotives, boxcars, and even a little red caboose, just add more diversity to a great train simulation software. All free skins and models have been thoroughly tested and are in use by thousands of happy Microsoft Train Simulator railfans. Plus, a free Timesaver pocket route is offered on the site, and has provided hours of fun for more than fifteen thousand users. Ron Paludan’s diverse and growing collection of low-cost and free MSTS software add-ons, can be downloaded at: http://www.railwaystation.com/trainsim/ Besides his work as a 3D model artist, Ron Paludan is also the creator and programmer of U.S. Railroad Map, a popular commercial software for thousands of railfan users, with thousands of registered users.
