Professionally Done Sales Letters

'font-style:italic;' class='uawbyline'>by Mark Walters

A substandard, lacking in professionalism, sales letter is often the result of trying to write one yourself from scratch. With your sales copy saying so much about your company’s character, this is simply not acceptable.

You may be wondering, what the big deal is about having a sales letter? Well, a sales letter is often the first thing someone will read when they hear about your company, product, or service. Assume it is the first point of contact for your business. If your letter reads unclearly, or has many grammatical and spelling errors, customers will not bother with you.

Prospective clients will not not read more than a couple of lines of it, if even that, they will simply move on. With the competitive nature of the market, your competition, with their well-written sale letters, will benefit from your mistake. In order to gain a competitive edge it is critical to have professionally done sales letters.

Professionally done sales letters must read naturally and be free from errors. Also, you do not want to advertise the death out of your business. The letter should have a purpose other than getting your customer’s money.. You want to show that building a good relationship with your customers is as important as making a sale.

Professionally done sales letters must not only read well, but look good too. Believe it or not, but the font, size, color, and style in which you use can impact the customer’s decision to do business with you.

You want to come across as professional and representative of the industry that you are in, but remember that professional is a subjective term and is industry specific. As an example, a toy making company can acceptably use bright, primary colors and crayon-like fonts, whereas for a microcomputer company doing so would be totally out of question.

You will need to use specialist computer software to create it. You simply cannot create a professional looking sales letter in any other way. Standard word processors and graphics software can be used but they take up a lot of time and the end result is not as good. They are not designed for the purpose of creating sales letters. Making an investment in specialist software to create professionally done sales letters is a cost effective, long-term solution.

So, now is the time to put an end to use of mediocre, or even outright poor, sales letters within your business. The sooner you put the time and effort into creating professionally done sales letters, the sooner your business will start making real progress.
