Today, the viewfinder is being fitted on fewer types although screen sizes have increased dramatically but are the biggest drain on the battery. If you enjoy close up pictures then you need a model with an optical zoom. Digital zoom only cameras should really be avoided as pictures using a digital only zoom are usually less clear. Two other things to look out for are diopter adjustment for people with poorer vision and a tripod socket because both are very useful.
